GABRY PONTE
Gabriele "Gabry" Ponte (born April 20th, 1973) is a well known DJ and a former member of Eiffel 65. Through the course of his career, he has produced a vast catalogue of both original songs and remixes.
Ponte began DJing at the age of 17, and his first credited releases occurred around 1994. He has worked with many groups, such as Karmah, Sangwara, Da Blitz, Full Sex, and most notably, albeit formerly, Eiffel 65.
Ponte is the manager of both Worldbus Records and Dance And Love, the latter of which is still active today.
Gabry Ponte's first single, "Got To Get", produced in 2001, was quite successful upon release, and made a comeback the following year in February. Though, "Time To Rock" was even more popular, peaking at the #1 spot on the Deejay Parade charts and holding there for 3 weeks. Though, his success totally exploded when "Geordie", a remix of Fabrizio De Andre's song, was released. It peaked at #9 nationally, and was #1 on Deejay Parade - holding that spot for 6 weeks, double that of "Time To Rock". Soon enough, his first, self-titled album released, and recieved ample airplay, peaking at #16 in Italy.
He went on to produce other hits such as "De Musica Tonante", "La Danza Delle Streghe", and "The Man In The Moon" in 2003, and his second album, Dottor Jekyll & Mister Dj, released the following year, peaking at #17. Many more successes followed, such as his remix of DJ Lhasa's "Giulia", and his remix of "Dragostea Din Tei".
Ponte went on to produce his own radio show on the radio station M2O, entitled "Gabry2o." A compilation album was released under this same name, with a second volume following the next year. Ponte's music career has not faltered since, and he continues to produce music to this day. While his musical style has since moved far away from the classic italodance sound, he continues to produce many kinds of dance music, and doesn't show any sign of stopping.
